All-County Mission Viejo offensive lineman Cole Smith (6-3, 275) committed Tuesday morning to USC, Diablos football coach Bob Johnson said.

Smith, a senior center and the son of former Rams star center Doug Smith, was a first-team All-County selection last season.

“(I’m) fired up for him,” Johnson said of Smith. “He chose the Trojans. They’re really happy.”

Johnson said Smith had narrowed his choices to USC, UCLA and Stanford.

USC also has landed a commitment from Servite senior-to-be offensive tackle Clayton Johnston and has offered Orange Coast College tackle Zach Bateman (6-6, 315, Estancia), Pirates football coach Kevin Emerson said.
