Wednesday’s CIF girls water polo semifinals

DIVISION 2

SAN CLEMENTE (20-11) vs. MURRIETA VALLEY (24-7)

Site, time: William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center, 6:30 p.m.

Outlook: The Tritons draw the top-seeded Nighthawks after finishing second to El Toro in the South Coast League. Murrieta Valley staked its claim as the No. 1 team in the division by defeating the defending champion Chargers three times. UCLA-bound Tara Prentice paces the Nighthawks with a well-rounded skill set. The 5-foot-11 senior attacker has played for the U.S. junior national team. San Clemente hasn’t played Murrieta Valley this season or the previous three so the Nighthawks will get their chance at defending center Amber McCutcheon. The powerhouse left-hander paces the Tritons with 119 goals. San Clemente also is led by crafty attacker Alaina Cousineau, second in the county with 85 assists.
