FRIDAY’S EAST VALLEY DIVISION PLAYOFF GAMES

Second round

St. Margaret’s (11-0) vs. St. Genevieve of Panorama City (7-4)

Where, when: Poly High of Sun Valley, 7 p.m.

Outlook: The Tartans scored six touchdowns of 30 yards or more in last week’s 59-16 victory over Excelsior Charter of Victorville. Senior running back Oscar Gomez touched the ball just seven times and still totaled 170 yards of offense and four touchdowns. St. Margaret’s offense should continue to roll against a St. Genevieve defense that’s given up close to 40 points a game in its four losses. On defense, cornerback Preston Ellis and company must slow down Valiants running back Matthew Cecil, who is averaging 10.5 yards per carry.

Saddleback Valley Christian (11-0) vs. Silver Valley of Yermo (10-1)

Where, when: Silver Valley High, 7 p.m.

Outlook: The Warriors offense is clicking at the right time, having scored 68, 62, 54 and 51 points in its last four outings. Quarterback Cade Henjum was efficient in last week’s game, completing 8 of 10 passes for 137 yards and three touchdowns. The two-headed rushing attack of David Molina and Charlie Morris accumulated more than 200 yards on the ground on 13 combined carries. They’ll need a similar effort against a Trojans team that is averaging close to 50 points a game.

Brethren Christian (8-2-1) vs. Grace Brethren of Simi Valley (11-0)

Where, when: Ocean View High, 7:30 p.m.

Outlook: These two squads squared off in Week 3 with Grace Brethren holding on for a 27-14 victory. Warriors senior quarterback Conner Miller had his worst game of the season that night, completing 13 of 27 passes for 163 yards and no touchdowns. It was the only game this season Miller did not have a TD pass. He and go-to receiver Guy Demazeliere will have to be in synch in this one if Brethren Christian hopes to pull of the upset.
