University’s boys tennis team will try to defend its Southern California Regional title today when it takes on San Marino at the Claremont Club.
The Trojans advanced to the 1:30 p.m. final with wins over Torrey Pines of San Diego, 5-2, and Harvard-Westlake of Studio City, 5-2, on Friday.
The match against Harvard-Westlake was a rematch of last week’s CIF-SS Division 1 final, which University won, 10-8.
University junior Arash Hafezi starred in both matches Friday afternoon, winning his singles match, 6-3, 6-0, against Torrey Pines, and following that up with a 6-0, 6-0 showing against Harvard-Westlake.
San Marino won the CIF-SS Division 2 championship last week.
