Fall Signing Day: Calvary Chapel's Thomas twins headed to Oklahoma
For Justin and Jeremy Thomas, wrestling became a part of their lives at an early age.
By the time they were in the second grade, they had claimed youth wrestling titles. They even competed against each other in the 58-pound division of the Cliff Keen Reno World Championships.
Wednesday morning at a ceremony in front of family and friends in the Calvary Chapel wrestling room, the twin brothers signed National Letters of Intent with the University of Oklahoma.
“This is a huge moment for me,” Justin said.
The twins wrestled their first three years of high school at Santiago of Corona, and transferred to Calvary Chapel for their senior year.
They both started in the kids program at Calvary Chapel “Team Thunder” and have been on the mats since.
Justin Thomas is a three-time state medalist. He was second last year at 152 pounds. Jeremy Thomas was third last year at 145 pounds.
“It has been a long road,” an emotional Jeremy said. “I’ve been doing this (wrestling) for a long time, there have been a lot of ups and downs and it has paid off.”
