Troy loses to Diamond Bar on final play

Special to OCVarsity.com
DIAMOND BAR – Troy lost a heartbreaker to Diamond Bar on Friday night, falling 33-28 on the final play of the game at Diamond Bar High.

Troy (1-3) was leading the Brahmas (3-1), 28-27. However, on what seemed to be the final play of the game, the Warriors were flagged for pass interference, giving the Brahmas one final play with no time left on the clock.

Diamond Bar quarterback Hunter Warren threw a 39-yard pass that bounced off three Troy defenders and landed in the hands of Robert Ignacio in the end zone.

Troy coach Jim Burton said he “was proud of his kids for fighting hard all the way to the end of the game.”

The final pass of the game was just another in a long line of pass plays executed by the Brahmas.

The Warriors had a difficult time containing Warren, who threw for 235 yards and rushed for 114.

The bright spot for the game for Troy was the rushing of Chaz Wendt. Wendt carried the ball 18 times for 135 yards. Wendt scored three of Troy’s four touchdowns.
