(Editor’s note: This story has been corrected to reflect that Troy did not tie the CIF State record Wednesday night as was originally reported by OCVarsity.com.)

Troy’s girls basketball team tied the CIF-Southern Section and Orange County records for consecutive league victories Wednesday with its 183rd win in a row – 56-15 over Buena Park in a Freeway League game.

Troy tied the mark set by Brea Olinda from 1987 to 2006.

The Warriors can break the O.C. and CIF-SS records Friday in their league game against visiting La Habra. Tipoff is 6 p.m.

The CIF State does not keep a state record book, but it recognizes CalHiSports as its unofficial record keeper. CalHiSports lists St. Mary’s of Stockton as the state record holder with its current streak of 189 league wins in a row.

St. Mary’s was forced by its league to forfeit a league game last year while its streak was at 186 games. But CalHiSports.com reported Thursday night that it recognizes St. Mary’s streak as being intact, saying it does not consider forfeits losses.
