FIRST TEAM
DEXTER VIENGVILAY
Laguna Hills, Sr., 106
He finished first in league and at CIF. He finished fourth at Masters and went 3-2 at the state tournament. He also won titles at the Carter Classic, Nogales Super Champs and Laguna Hills Invitational.
RYAN GUTIERREZ
Brea Olinda, Jr., 113
He was second at CIT and won league and CIF titles. He finished third at Masters and went 2-2 at the state tournament. He was Brea Olinda’s first state qualifier since 2008.
BRANDON HERNANDEZ
Capistrano Valley, Jr., 120
His season was interrupted by injuries, but he was able to win the Laguna Hills Invitational and he finished first at the Coast View Conference finals and CIF. Hernandez went 2-2 at Masters.
RUSSELL ROHLFING
Sonora, Sr., 126
He was third at Masters and finished sixth at the state tournament. Rohlfing won three tournament titles and picked up league and CIF titles.
JOSH KAWAGUCHI
Sonora, Jr., 132
Kawaguchi had a strong performance at 138 pounds and when he made the move down to 132, he remained in top form. He was third at Five Counties and first at Freeway League finals and CIF. He was a finalist at Masters and went 1-2 at the state tournament.
TREVOR PEREZ
Mater Dei, Sr., 138
Perez started the season at 152 pounds, but he finished the season at 138. He captured the Freeway League title. He was fourth at Masters and went 3-2 at the state tournament.
STEVEN CASTILLO
El Dorado, Sr., 145
He was third at the El Dorado Invitational and second at the league finals and CIF. He qualified for the state tournament, where he went 0-2.
MORRIS WILNER
Calvary Chapel, Jr., 152
Wilner was sixth at the El Dorado Invitational and Mann Classic. He posted a second-place finish at the Black Watch Tournament and fourth at CIF. He won the Orange Coast League title and finished third at CIF and eighth at Masters. He ended the season 1-2 at the state tournament.
JARED FERNANDEZ
Canyon, Jr., 160
Fernandez finished third at the San Clemente Rotary Invitational. He was third at league finals and finished second at CIF. He advanced to the ninth-place bracket at Masters, but lost in the finals.
ANDREW MORGAN
Fountain Valley, Sr., 170
Morgan was a finalist at seven tournaments, winning the Asics SoCal Challenge, Sunset League and CIF titles. He was second at Masters and finished third at the state tournament. As a junior, he was seventh at the state tournament at 152 pounds.
LEANGELO WHITE
Western, Sr., 182
He opened the season with a third-place finish at the Cossarek Classic. He won titles at the Mann Classic, Beresford Invitational, Empire League finals and at CIF. He was a finalist at Masters and finished fourth at the state tournament. His fourth-place finish was the best for Western since 1983.
RYKER COPPA
Marina, Sr., 195
Coppa won titles at the Cossarek Classic, Mann Classic, finished second at the Sierra Nevada Classic and third at Five Counties. He was first at Sunset League finals and CIF. He was fifth at Masters and qualifed for his second consecutive state tournament. He went 0-2.
STEVEN AHUMADA
Loara, Sr., 220
Ahumada won the Golden West League title. He needed to win his fifth-place match at CIF to qualify for Masters. He then finished fifth at Masters and eighth at the state tournament.
ABE OCHOA
Yorba Linda, Sr., Heavyweight
Ochoa won five titles, including the Empire League, CIF and Masters. At the state tournament, he finished sixth, tops among all Southern Section heavyweights.
