ANAHEIM – Kennedy followed three straight Northwood turnovers with touchdown drives in the second quarter en route to a resounding 48-10 victory Thursday night at Glover Stadium.

The Fighting Irish got their first win of the season after losing by five to Katella last week. Kennedy scored on each of its first six possessions with quarterback Christian Rodriguez throwing three touchdowns and rushing for one too.

The Irish Kennedy responded to an opening drive field goal by Northwood with a methodical 11-play drive that culminated in a 3-yard touchdown plunge by running back Alonzo Pineda. On the ensuing drive, quarterback Cameron Kasey was picked off by Chris Rodriguez, who returned the ball 65 yards to the 25.

Rodriguez took an end around on the next play for 15-yards, setting up a 14-yard touchdown throw from Rodriguez to Gabe Solorzano three plays later. Rodriguez and Solorzano hooked up for another touchdown on the next drive following a Northwood fumble, this time from nine yards out.

Northwood (0-2) fumbled on its next play, setting up an eventual 6-yard touchdown run by Pineda, putting the Irish up 28-3 at the half. Kennedy (1-1) scored on its fifth straight drive to start the half, with Christian Rodriguez scoring on a run from his 48 yard line.

The Irish defense then forced a three and out, setting up Christian Rodriguez’s third touchdown of the game to Solorzano, this one a 46-yard catch and run down the sideline.

Pineda added another rushing score before Northwood scored its first touchdown of the game. In the third, quarter, the Timberwolves moved into the red zone with a 38-yard pass from Brandon Johnson to Mike Coleman before Johnson scored on a run from the one.
