A roundup of nonleague football games Friday:
Capistrano Valley 27, Santa Monica 20: Wide receiver Mitchell Nickovich caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Gavin Pruett with about two minutes left to help rally the visiting Cougars (3-1).
Capistrano Valley trailed, 20-12, but tied the score, 20-20, with about six minutes in the fourth on an interception return for a touchdown by Billy Biehn and a 2-point conversion.
Pruett also tossed a touchdown pass to Adam Gordon and Jordon Bocko scored a touchdown.
“They had some athletes,” Capistrano Valley coach Ernie Bucher said of Santa Monica (1-2). “We’ll take it (the victory).”
Ocean View 49, La Quinta 14: Running back Greg Tocchetti scored three touchdowns and cornerback Kevin Martinez returned an interception for a touchdown as the visiting Seahawks (2-1) beat the Aztecs (1-2) at Garden Grove.
Quarterback Blake Meyer also rushed for a touchdown and threw for a score for Ocean View, which bounced back from a 42-20 loss against Valley Christian of Cerritos last week.
“We improved a lot,” Ocean View coach Luis Nunez said. “Finally, we clicked on offensively. … We just need to keep improving.”
Crean Lutheran 56, Lutheran of Chula Vista 14: Matt Frisbee ran for a touchdown and caught a pass for another to lead the Saints. Frisbee had 115 receiving yards, while Paul Sardo passed for a 159 yards.
Linfield Christian of Temecula 24, Capistrano Valley Christian 21: Lorenzo Burns scored the winning TD on an 80-yard run.
