Matt Gane threw for one touchdown and ran for one, and Jake Favreau caught two touchdown passes as No. 9 Edison rolled to a 35-6 victory over Garfield of Los Angeles in a nonleague game Friday at Garfield High.

The Chargers (3-0) have outscored their three opponents, 135-16.

“We’ve been playing pretty good defense,” Coach Dave White said, noting that his team had a shutout until late in the contest.

“Now we’ve got to play Servite and Mater Dei. So we’ll be tested soon enough.”

Jacob Marines and Manase Time scored on runs for Edison, and Grant Lowary threw a TD pass.

In other nonleague games:

Newport Harbor 40, Hamilton of Los Angeles 0: Senior quarterback Cole Norris tossed four touchdown passes, including three to Riley Gaddis, and the host Sailors (1-0) cruised in their season opener.

“Overall, we played pretty well,” Newport Harbor coach Jeff Brinkley said. “We played great defense. … For the most part, we played well on special teams.”

The Sailors recovered a fumble in the first quarter that led to a 10-yard strike from Norris to Gaddis for the first touchdown.

Newport Harbor led, 20-0, at halftime. The Sailors play at Palos Verdes next week.

Laguna Beach 45, Bolsa Grande 12: Quarterback Jack Simon threw for two touchdowns and sophomore running back Nick Krantz rushed for two touchdowns to lead the visiting Breakers (1-0) in their season opener.

Bruce Knill caught a TD pass, rushed for a score and kicked a field goal for Laguna Beach.
