NEWPORT BEACH – Braeden Stack scored three touchdowns and Patrick Glasgow passed for 171 yards as Calvary Chapel defeated Sage Hill, 42-7, Friday night in a nonleague game at Sage Hill High.

The Eagles (1-0) used an attacking, no-huddle offense led by its junior quarterback, Glasgow, who was 15-of-24 passing.

Glasgow also rushed for 59 yards on nine carries and scored a 3-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter.

Lightning quarterback CJ McCord was 16 of 40 passing for 254 yards with one interception. He also had one fumble.

Stack rushed for 47 yards on six attempts with two rushing touchdown and caught two passes for 28 yards with one score.

“He threw me a great ball. I was wide open. He knew we were on the same page … and I just walked in,” Stack said about his first touchdown reception of the season.

Eagles senior wideout Joey Cox caught 7 passes for 90 yards and scored one touchdown on a 13-yard strike from Glasgow to seal the game in the fourth quarter.

The game was close at the half with the Lightning holding the fast-attacking Eagles offense to just two touchdowns.

The Eagles’ special teams blocked a field goal attempt in the second quarter to put a halt to a Lightning drive.

Using trickery, the Lightning’s first and only touchdown came in the first quarter after a triple pass that eventually led to wide receiver Zach Burns catching the ball deep down the field and running it in for a touchdown.
