In girls water polo Tuesday:

In the South Coast:

No. 8 San Clemente 7, No. 6 El Toro 5: The Tritons (16-6, 6-1) and goalie Hylah Prussak (12 saves) held the Chargers, ranked No. 1 in Division 2, to one goal in the second half to move in position to tie El Toro (19-8, 7-1) for the league title.

El Toro led, 4-3, at halftime but San Clemente – ranked third in Division 2 — rallied by outscoring the Chargers, 4-1, in the second half. San Clemente plays at third-place Dana Hills (15-12, 4-3) on Wednesday.

“We just talked about defense being the key and that offense would come eventually,” San Clemente coach Logan Powell said in a text. “The girls worked really hard and it came together for us in the second half.”

Prussak also blocked a penalty shot in arguably her best game of the season.

Center Amber McCutcheon paced San Clemente with a game-high three goals and an assist.

In the Trinity:

No. 10 Mater Dei 13, No. 9 Rosary 11: Kayla Constandse scored the first three goals and finished with a season-high six as the host Monarchs (14-12, 3-1) defeated the Royals (18-9, 2-2) for second place.

Mater Dei opened an early 4-0 lead before Rosary tied the score at 6 and 7 in the third. Center Grace Thawley scored with 31 second left in the third to give the Monarchs an 8-7 lead and Constandse added two more goals in the fourth.

Constandse and Thawley each scored in the first minute of the fourth.

“That beginning of the fourth period was huge,” Mater Dei coach Chris Segesman said. “After we were up, 4-0, they out-played us for two quarters. … For us this year, it was a solid game for us.”

Freshman Georgia Vargas scored three goals for Rosary. “(We) kept it fun,” Rosary coach Rory Bevins said. “I’m proud of how the kids came back.”

In the Orange:

Santa Ana Valley 9, Savanna 7: The visiting Falcons (20-7, 6-0) rallied from a four-goal deficit at halftime to clinch the league title behind four goals by Ale Barajas and three from Katy SalgadoKarina Trejo and Monica Garcia also scored goals in the fourth period as Santa Ana Valley outscored the Rebels, 5-0, despite playing without leading-scorer Emy Castaneda (ill).

“The girls did a great job today,” Valley coach Fred Lammers said.

Savanna’s Emily Cetin (four goals) fouled out less than a minute into the fourth. The Rebels led, 7-5, when the standout departed.

In the Crestview:

No. 2 Foothill 13, Villa Park 5: Danielle Ayala, Cana Manzella, Grace-Ann Pevehouse, Julia Sellers and Noelle Wijnbelt each scored twice as the host Knights (23-4, 3-0) captured the league crown.

In the Freeway:

Troy 8, La Habra 6: Marissa Vaccher scored three goals and Claire Schade added two to help the host Warriors (21-7, 9-0) claim the league title.

In the Golden West:

Ocean View 8, Segerstrom 6: Shannon Graham scored five goals as the visiting Seahawks (9-0 in league) captured the league crown.

In the North Hills:
Esperanza 10 , El Dorado 2: Sierra Cox scored four goals to help the visiting Aztecs (11-17, 3-0) take the league title.
