SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO – For three quarters, San Juan Hills kept pace with El Toro offensively. But the Chargers forced a key punt by the Stallions with 8:55 remaining and ran it out for a wild 74-56 South Coast League win Friday at San Juan Hills High.

El Toro quarterback Trey Tinsley completed 23 of 34 passes for 346 yards and four first-half touchdowns, and Kaleb Fossum rushed for four scores in the second half.

The Stallions (3-4, 0-1) managed to keep up in the first half, leading 28-21 before Tinsley tossed touchdown passes of 38 and 30 yards to Colin Kentros and Fossum to give El Toro a 34-28 lead at half.

Stallions quarterback Patrick O’Brien completed 29 of 37 passes for 286 yards and four touchdowns, but also threw an interception.

San Juan Hills outgained El Toro in total offense 589 yards to 540.

On the first possession of the second half, Fossum’s first touchdown run of 4 yards put El Toro (6-2, 1-1) up by two scores. Fossum’s four TD runs all came out of the wildcat formation.

Stallions running back Mike Miscione responded with a 16-yard touchdown run, his first of two scores. A 14-yard touchdown run by El Toro’s Marcus DeSantis was answered with a 45-yard TD pass from O’Brien to Jacob Huff.

But El Toro stayed on the ground with DeSantis, who gained 150 of his 184 rushing yards in the second half.

El Toro’s Taylor Dodds caught 8 passes for 146 yards and a score.
