LAKE FOREST – El Toro’s offensive gameplan Friday night was no mystery.

Still, the pass-happy Chargers left Norwalk clueless.

Senior wide receiver Kaleb Fossum hauled in 10 catches for 208 yards and two touchdowns, and host El Toro bolted past Norwalk, 44-6, in a nonleague matchup.

“We worked all week with Coach (Robert) Frith and the wide receiving crew,” Fossum said. “We went back to our basic bread-and-butter plays, and we came out here and executed it.”

Fossum had TD grabs of 53 and 77 yards and also scored on a 2-yard run in the opening minutes of the second half to ignite El Toro’s (3-1) outburst.

Trey Tinsley completed 18 of 29 passes for 332 yards for El Toro, throwing for three touchdowns and connecting with five different receivers. Running back Marcus DeSantis, who was out of action battling the flu in last week’s loss to Corona del Mar, had 10 carries for 95 yards. He contributed two rushing touchdowns in the second quarter for the Chargers, who held a 28-6 halftime advantage.

El Toro forced six turnovers. Hunter Wallace had two fumble recoveries, and Victor Reyes and Joshua Sanchez each added one. The Chargers also had interceptions from Demarlo Cobbins and Dillon Sherman.

“We knew teams like these have a tendency to cough the ball up,” Frith said. “We were just able to be at the right place at the right time.”

El Toro’s 10-play, 68-yard opening drive showcased the offensive efficiency when Tinsley found Colin Kentros in the endzone to take an early lead. Norwalk (2-2) turned the ball over on its ensuing possession, and the Chargers jumped on the opportunity, driving 66 yards down the field in just under two minutes. DeSantis capped the nine-play drive on a 3-yard scamper into the end zone.

El Toro added two more TDs off turnovers in the second quarter.
