Eight players and four coaches for Orange County teams received top honors on the the All-CIF teams released by the CIF Southern Section on Tuesday.

The selections for the 13 CIF-SS divisions were made by the Football Coaches Association. Each division included an offensive and defensive player of the year and a coach of the year.

In the West Valley Division, Mission Viejo swept the top honors with offensive lineman Cole Smith (offense), defensive back Julian Owens (defense) and Bob Johnson (coach). The Diablos defeated Vista Murrieta, 21-10, in the West Valley final.

In the Southwest Division, the top honors went to San Clemente quarterback Sam Darnold (offense), San Clemente linebacker Riley Whimpey (defense) and Trabuco Hills’ Tony Henney (coach). Trabuco Hills defeated San Clemente, 44-37, in the Southwest final. Darnold was also the Register’s offensive player of the year.

In the Southern Division, the top offensive honor went to Rancho Alamitos quarterback Nick Brown, while Garden Grove won the other two top awards – Alejandro Ceja (defense) and Ricardo Cepeda (coach). Garden Grove defeated Rancho Alamitos, 35-0, in the Southern final.

St. Margaret’s swept the top three honors in the East Valley division – running back Oscar Gomez (offense), linebacker Dalan Cragun (linebacker) and Stephen Barbee (coach). St. Margaret’s won the East Valley title by beating Grace Brethren of Simi Valley, 34-21, in the final.
