St. John Bosco (7-1) remained the unanimous top-ranked football team in the SoCal Varsity Top 20, but a new team moved into the No. 2 spot for Week 9.

JSerra (7-1) moved to the runner-up position after its 17-10 victory against previous second-ranked Mater Dei in the Trinity League on Friday.

The Lions also passed Mater Dei in the Orange County poll, taking the reins of the rankings for the first time. JSerra lost St. John Bosco, 49-44, in the Trinity League.

The Monarchs (6-2) dropped one spot to No. 3, narrowly holding off Centennial of Corona (6-2).
