The start of a new season is a good time to introduce a new feature in our high school football coverage – the SoCal Varsity Top 20.

Or you can simply call it, The Best Poll Out There.

Think we’re kidding?

Most of the other polls out there rely on one or two voters. Our SoCal Varsity Top 20 will be using a group of reporters who cover high school football throughout the region. They’ll be seeing all of the top teams in Orange, Los Angeles and Rvierside counties, plus much of San Bernardino County. (Sorry, Ventura County. We’re not there yet.)

We’ll have a new poll out every Monday afternoon. You will be able to find it on this website.

In the meantime, here is our SoCal Varsity Preseason Top 20, with St. John Bosco – last year’s Open Division state champion – in the No. 1 spot.
