Dean Toohey said Wednesday he has resigned as head coach of the Northwood football team after two seasons.

Toohey, who took over for former coach Rick Curtis, had a 9-12 record in two seasons. The Timberwolves went to the CIF-SS playoffs in Toohey’s first season, but finished 2-8 this past year and did not advance to postseason play.

Toohey left a voice message to announce his decision.

Athletic Director Philemon Roh confirmed that “Dean Toohey has resigned his position as head coach of Northwood’s football program.”

Toohey was the defensive coordinator at Northwood before taking over for Curtis.

There were coaching changes at two other county schools Wednesday, as Myron Miller replaced Winter Welz and Gary Bowers resigned at Esperanza.
