The Register’s look at the top O.C. players to watch this season (listed alphabetically).

TOP 10 O.C. PLAYERS

James Acuna, Cypress: A right-handed senior, Acuna was 8-2 with a 1.50 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 67 innings in 2015. He was All-Empire League first team and signed with Oregon.

Hans Crouse, Dana Hills: A junior right-hander, Crouse, who committed to USC, is on The Sporting News preseason All-America first team. He was 6-1 with a 1.80 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 50 innings last season.

Hagen Danner, Huntington Beach: He was All-Orange County first team and the Sunset League’s pitcher of the year last season as a sophomore. He was 7-2 with a 1.26 ERA and 65 strikeouts in 51 innings. Danner committed to UCLA and is on The Sporting News preseason All-America second team. He also can play catcher.

Huntington Beach has talent to reach great heights

Important dates

Dominic Fletcher, Cypress: He was All-Orange County first team and Empire League MVP last year. The senior outfielder, who signed with Arkansas, hit .452 with nine home runs and 34 RBI last season.

Royce Lewis, JSerra: A junior third baseman, Lewis was the Trinnity League’s MVP in 2015. He set a school single-season record with 44 hits and drove in 21 runs. He was All-Orange County first team.

Garrett Mitchell, Orange Lutheran: He was All-Trinity League first team last season. The junior center fielder, who committed to UCLA, batted .372 with 17 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 2015.

Logan Pouelsen, Huntington Beach: A senior third baseman/pitcher, Pouelsen was All-Orange County second team last season. He signed with UCLA.

Brady Shockey, JSerra: The senior, an excellent defensive center fielder, committed to USC. He was All-Orange County first team last year. He batted .351 with 39 hits and 25 RBI.

Landon Silver, Huntington Beach: He was All-Orange County first team in 2015 as a junior. Silver batted .352 with a team-high seven home runs and 31 RBI.

Chase Strumpf, JSerra: He was All-Orange County second team as a junior in 2015 when he batted .323 with 19 RBI. An excellent fielder, Strumpf signed with UCLA.
