OCVarsity girls golf preview for 2015:

O.C. TOP 10

1. Beckman: The Patriots return four players from last year’s team that won the CIF-SS Southern Team Regional championship.

2. Troy: Freshman Kaylee Sakoda has medaled once, posted a score in the 30s in three of her first four varsity matches, and helped the Warriors finish in the 180s twice.

3. Santa Margarita: All-Trinity League, first-team player Rylie Edwards and Taylor Chang, a three-time medalist, are among the Eagles’ five returning letter winners.

4. San Clemente: The Tritons opened the season with a pair of victories, breaking 200 each time. Sophomore Olivia French could emerge as one of the top underclassmen in the county, as she medaled in the season-opening match with a 1-under-par 35 at Dove Canyon Country Club.

5. Foothill: Madie Chou earned medalist honors at Western Hills Country Club to help the Knights win the Royal Shotgun Tournament by three strokes.

6. Marina: The Vikings return everyone from last year’s team, including Angela Wu and Brittney Do, both first-team, all-league players in 2014.

7. Dana Hills: Joan Soewondo returns after posting a a 74.6 scoring average during the CIF-SS postseason tournaments. If the team’s two freshmen, Isley Grguric and Katie Jacobson, improve, Coach Glenn Forster said the Dolphins should challenge for a CIF berth.

9. University: Ellen Takada is back after sitting out her junior year. While she was away, she finished in the top five of the AJGA Wells Fargo Junior Classic at the Country Club of the South in Johns Creek, Ga.

10. Tesoro: South Coast Legaue individual champion Emma Kang should help the Titans contend for their sixth league title in a row.
