O.C. PRESEASON TOP 10

1. Mater Dei: The Monarchs return four players, including Jakeishya Le, an All-County first-team selection, from last year’s team that won the CIF-SS Southern Division team championship. The addition of freshman Macee Aguirre, Coach Derek Uyesaka said, provides “more depth for the squad that has aspirations of making a deep run in the CIF playoffs.”

2. Foothill: Madie Chou, a WSCGA championship qualifier last season, returns to lead a talented roster that includes sophomores Emily Sumner and Kayie Stribling, who both qualified for the CIF-SS Individual tournament in 2014.

3. Troy: Beth Lillie earned All-County first team honors as she helped the Warriors win their first CIF championship in girls golf as a freshman. She returns to the Warriors’ lineup this season as an AJGA tournament champion.

4. Santa Margarita: Taylor Chang and Catherine Roddy, both All-Trinity League selections a year ago, should help the Eagles contend for the league championship.

5. Tesoro: The Titans return everyone from last year’s team that won the South Coast League championship. The Titans finished second in the CIF-SS Southern Team Divisional.

6. Huntington Beach: Coach Douglas Flint said this is the “strongest team in school history.” The Oilers might capture the school’s first Sunset League championship. The Oilers set the Sea Cliff Country Club girls course record last week, shooting a 212 in a scrimmage.

7. Corona del Mar: Sophomores Alyaa Abdulghany and Gabby Finear should help the Sea Kings contend for the Pacific Coast League championship. Abudulghany is in 26th place in the Golfweek junior girls national Sagarin rankings, which include more than 2,600 players.

8. Yorba Linda: Brooke Graebe, the 2013 Empire League champion, returns for her final varsity season after finishing tied for eighth in the CIF State Championship last season.

9. Beckman: The Patriots return four players from last year’s team which tied for fourth in the CIF-SS Southern Team Regional at Costa Mesa Golf Course.

10. San Clemente: Alex Cooper emerged as one of the top players in the county last season, finishing tied for seventh in the CIF-SS Southern Individual Regional. She returns for her senior season, leading an experienced core group of players that includes juniors Isabella Seeburger and Madi Weideman.
