Trabuco Hills senior Jacob Breeland, considered one of the top returning receivers in the county, will likely miss the team’s season opener, first-year coach Tony Henney said Wednesday.

Breeland, who led the Mustangs with 36 receptions for 753 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2013, injured his knee this summer while jumping into a pool. He did not participate in the team’s summer activities, but has taken part in light drills since the opening of camp last week.

Henney said he believes the Oregon commit will be available for the team’s Week 2 game against La Costa Canyon on Sept. 5. Trabuco Hills opens the season Aug. 29 at home against Rancho Cucamonga.

Henney also said the team’s other starting wideout, senior Noah Thompson, has been out with a stress fracture to his shin, but he expects him to be available for the opener. Thompson caught 20 passes for 173 yards last season.
