Morgan Wilson, the Esperanza girls tennis and track athlete who suffered from a cardiac arrest during a workout Tuesday, remained in critical condition Friday at UC Irvine Medical Center, according to the school’s track coach.

“She had a CAT scan done today that showed very little brain activity,” Rich Medellin said. “For right now, the family is just asking for everyone’s prayers.”

Wilson, 17, was captain of the school’s tennis team last year as a junior. She collapsed while warming up for a lesson at the Anaheim Tennis Center.

Her father, Scott Wilson, said Friday afternoon that the family appreciates all of the support it has received since Tuesday.

“It’s very helpful to the family knowing that the prayers are out there for Morgan,” Scott Wilson told KABC/7. “And that’s what we continue to need. She’s in a battle … it’s the battle of her life.”

Wilson added that doctors haven’t found a reason for his daughter’s collapse.

“She’s running four and five miles every day, she’s training six to seven hours a day, she’s lifting weights … For this to happen, there was no warning sign whatsoever.”
