Brea Olinda senior Austin Tamagno, considered one of the top high school distance runners in the country, announced Friday he has committed to Oregon.

Tamagno, who made the announcement on his Twitter account, was the Gatorade state boys cross country runner of the year for 2014-15.

As a junior, he won the CIF State Division 3 individual cross country title and led the Wildcats to their first state championship. In the spring, he won the state title in the 1,600 meters.

He was also considering scholarship offers from Arizona, Cal, Colorado, Oklahoma State and Syracuse.
