FINAL O.C. TOP 10

(Records through Sunday)

1. Mater Dei, 28-2

Mater Dei’s two losses of the season have come against Chaminade, both by just one point. A potential third could very well take place on Mar. 21.

2. Brea Olinda, 23-4

The Ladycats will return to the court Saturday as the top-seeded team in the Division 3 state championships.

3. Troy, 23-9

A loss to West Torrance in Saturday’s 1A final means no state playoffs for the Warriors, who find themselves on the outside looking in at a loaded Div. 1 field.

4. JSerra, 23-7

Despite dropping its second consecutive 4AA title game to Bishop Montgomery, the Lions will look to rebound in the Division 4 state bracket.

5. El Dorado, 24-8

A one-point overtime loss was crushing, but the Golden Hawks play on and were rewarded with the 3-seed in the Div. 3 state bracket.

6. Foothill, 24-6

The Knights put together their fifth straight 20-win season under Vince Namba.

7. Orange Lutheran, 23-8

Tom Howard and company were the lone Trinity League team to walk away victorious championship weekend, and did so without the services of leading scorer Taelor Griffin. She’ll be back this week as Orange Lutheran heads into the state tourney.

8. Fairmont Prep, 24-4

Huge weekend for the Huskies faithful. Winning the school’s first-ever CIF-SS team title is quite an accomplishment. They move on to state in the Div. 4 bracket.

9. Orangewood Academy, 27-4

The Spartans got its revenge on Ribet Academy in Saturday night’s final, giving it two CIF titles in four seasons. They’ll be the No. 3 seed in the Div. 5 state tournament.

10. Santa Margarita, 18-14

The Eagles led as late as the 2:20 mark in the fourth quarter of its CIF championship meeting against Orange Lutheran last Friday night. They’ll play on as the No. 6 seed in Div. 3’s state tournament.
