St. Margaret’s (14-0) vs. Christian of El Cajon (13-0)

Where, when: Granite Hills High, El Cajon, Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Outlook: The East Valley Division champion Tartans need to beat a third consecutive undefeated opponent to reach their second state bowl final. Christian, the Division3 champion in San Diego, owns the longest active winning streak in the state at 20 games. The Patriots are led by the combination of quarterback David Todd Jeremiah and running back Adrian Petty, both juniors. Petty has rushed for 1,996 yards and 28 TDs while Jeremiah has passed for 2,670 yards and 31 TDs for an offense averaging just over 48 points a game. The Tartans’ defense has been solid, holding teams to an average of 11.4 points. Running back Oscar Gomez leads St. Margaret’s with 2,285 yards rushing and 40 TDs. The Tartans average almost 42 points but face a Patriots defense allowing 12.6. The victorious team will play the winner of the Northern Regional between Capital Christian of Sacramento (13-0) and Central Catholic of Modesto (10-3).
