GARDEN GROVE - Northwood got a big lift from its special teams unit Thursday night in a nonleague game against Los Amigos.
The unit put up two touchdowns to help the Timberwolves capture a 34-20 victory over the Lobos at Garden Grove High.
Northwood’s Kyle Thompson returned a blocked punt by Skylar Karol 30 yards for a TD in the first quarter, and David Woolbert returned the opening kickoff of the third quarter 96 yards to score.
“Our special teams were huge,” Northwood coach Rick Curtis said.
Quarterback Andrew Stephenson was also solid for Northwood (2-3), completing 8 of 15 passes for 99 yards.
Kevin Juby rushed for 62 yards on 8 carries and scored two touchdowns for Northwood.
Los Amigos (1-4) was led by quarterback Jose Gonzalez, who completed 13 of 27 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns.

Over a couple years Los Amigos has had a tremendous change in the squad. I believe its because of the loss of their old coach back in 06. therefore this team isn’t the same anymore. P.S. Bolsa will finally beat Los Amigos in a Varsity game. YEEEAAH!
