Scouting report: The Matadors feel good about having quarterback Anthony Porras back in the offense for a third consecutive season. There are five other starters back on offense, including their top three receivers. Keep an eye on 6-4 sophomore James Asiata. He should be able to cause some match-up problems for defenses. Edward Faatoalia, the team’s returning sack leader, will anchor the defense. There are concerns over a lack of depth and experience at some spots on defense. The Matadors haven’t been to the playoffs since 1987. The offense should be able to score, so the key to their season will be how quickly the defense comes together.
