Mater Dei

The senior inside linebacker racked up 16 total tackles, including 12 unassisted, and recorded a sack, pass breakup and blocked punt in a 35-14 victory against then-No. 5 Tesoro. Smith (5-9, 179) was part of a defense that held Tesoro to 22 yards rushing. “Pound for pound, he is the strongest and toughest kid on the team,” Mater Dei coach Bruce Rollinson said of Smith.
