The Friars senior earned a berth in this weekend’s CIF individual championships after an impressive 3-0 day in last week’s Corona del Mar Regional. Smith capped off his stellar afternoon with a 3-6, 6-3, 14-12 triumph over Bjorn Hoffmann of CdM. Because a severe elbow injury claimed his junior season, last Thursday proved to be the first time in two years Smith played three matches in one day.
