In a loaded bracket, Smith came away as the Sunset League’s newest singles champion. The Griffins sophomore bested Fountain Valley’s John Lieu, the two-time defending league champ, in straight sets in the semifinals. He followed that up with a win over top-seeded Reese Stalder of Newport Harbor, 6-2, 7-6, in the finals to bring home the championship hardware.
