ANAHEIM – Segerstrom scored touchdowns on five of six first-half possessions and rolled to a 49-0 victory over Loara in a Golden West League game Friday at Glover Stadium.

The victory keeps the Jaguars (4-2-1, 2-0) undefeated through two league games, while the Saxons (0-7, 0-2) are still searching for their first victory.

With three league games remaining, one more victory could put the Jaguars in a good spot for a guaranteed playoff spot.

Aside from an 18-yard touchdown pass from Marcos Avalos to Gus Guerrero, the Jaguars did all their scoring on the ground.

George Ortega led all rushers with 99 yards and two touchdowns on six carries. Ortega also had an interception that he returned 20 yards to set up another touchdown.

Ortega’s 49-yard touchdown run kicked off a streak of six touchdowns on six possessions in a row, giving Segerstrom a 42-0 lead early in the third quarter. By CIF rule, the game was played with a running clock in the fourth quarter.

The Saxons managed just eight first downs and had one legitimate scoring chance, but came up empty on a fourth down from the Jaguars’ 3. Segerstrom’s Izaac Santos, Danny Laris and Johnny Soto each had sacks.

Aaron Lopez had three receptions for 46 yards for the Saxons.
