Outlook: This is the second time in three seasons Servite has advanced to the championship game. Senior team captain JT Cook said that experience will be a big plus today. Defense has been Servite’s foundation since Coach Jon Spencer took over three years ago. The Friars bring a plus-66 goal differential and a 0.70 goals against average into this game. Senior goalkeeper Keith Murphy has posted 14 shutouts and a 0.60 goals-against average. Servite junior Garrett Amador has 22 goals this season. El Toro has posted 11 shutouts in its past 18 games, allowing only only eight goals during that span. Senior center back Ethan Thrall and sophomore goalkeeper Mac Hutchins have played a key role in the Chargers’ defensive success. Thrall also has been invaluable on set pieces, too, launching pinpoint long throws into the box. Look for Khalid Francis to be the target of those in today’s game. Servite gave up two goals on set pieces in its victory over Loyola, 3-2, in the semifinals.
