SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO – Patrick O’Brien made the most of what could be his final home game at San Juan Hills. The Nebraska-commit continued his standout season, throwing for 155 yards in the first half of San Juan Hills’ 55-15 South Coast League rout of Dana Hills on Friday.

Most important, O’Brien and the Stallions (8-1, 2-1) kept themselves in the hunt for a playoff spot after last week’s loss to Mission Viejo. They face second-place Tesoro (7-2, 2-1) next week on the road in a must-win game for an automatic playoff berth.

“Last time we played on this field it wasn’t our best game at all,” said O’Brien, who sat out the second half as substitutes took over for the Stallions. “So we wanted to come out and execute and play our game as a team.”

San Juan Hills made its point early, scoring five times before allowing a score by Dana Hills (0-9, 0-3). O’Brien connected with five receivers before the Dolphins’ Eric Fellenzer drilled a 35-yard field goal late in the second quarter.

Brady Bjorkman had two of those touchdowns, a 22-yard reception and 23-yard, tackle-breaking run through the middle. He finished with 95 all-purpose yards and played quarterback for most of the second half while O’Brien sat out.

The Stallions led 41-3 at the half, having given up only one first down.

Corey Cisowski threw two touchdown passes, the second of which was a final-second, 24-yard heave to Charlie Bortnick.
