The Register’s top five players to watch this season.

Matt Ctvrtlik, Corona del Mar: The Sea Kings are in good hands with the senior setter back. He has led CdM to consecutive CIF SoCal Regional titles. The goal this season is to capture the CIF-SS Division 1 title. Ctvrtlik earned All-County second-team honors last season.

Noah Dyer, Saddleback Valley Christian: Dyer has been an extremely valuable player for SVC’s successful program. Dyer, who is headed to Pepperdine, was the CIF-SS Division 4 player of the year and first-team All-County last season.

Sean Morrissey, Huntington Beach: The USC-bound outside hitter steps into a leadership role for the Oilers. Morrissey played a key role in the success the Oilers achieved during their current streak. He earned first-team all-Sunset League honors last season.

Mason Tufuga, Costa Mesa: All eyes will be on Tufuga in the Orange Coast League. The senior opposite, who was the league’s co-MVP last season and is headed to Stanford, will look to take the Mustangs back to the CIF-SS playoffs.

Garrett Zolg, Mater Dei: The junior setter was part of a remarkable turnaround season for the Monarchs last season. He was selected league MVP as a sophomore. With the experience Zolg and the rest of his teammates gained last season, the Monarchs should be in the mix among the top teams.
