Jeff Sears will return to Laguna Beach High as its baseball coach if his hiring is approved by the city’s school board.

Sears said over the weekend via text that he would resume coaching at Laguna Beach if the board approves his appointment. That could happen later this month.

He was the Register’s Orange County coach of the year at Laguna Beach in 2011. Sears coached Servite from 2012-14.

Upon leaving Servite, where, he said, “The parents got me,” Sears said his coaching days were over.

At Laguna Beach Sears would replace the coach who succeeded him, Mike Bair. Bair coached Laguna Beach to a CIF-Southern Section championship this past spring, resigned and now is an assisant coach at Foothill.
