Santa Ana Valley’s girls water polo team held its position in CIF-SS Division 7 on Tuesday.

Alyna Suarez scored four goals and freshman Samantha Martinez made six saves in a second-half shutout to lead the host Falcons past Garden Grove, 10-2, in a duel of Division 7-ranked teams.

Santa Ana Valley (3-3), ranked fifth in Division 7, led No. 10 Garden Grove, 7-2, at halftime.

In other nonleague games:

No. 1 Laguna Beach 21, Edison 3: Bella Baldridge scored four goals and four other players netted three apiece to lead the host Breakers (2-0) to their county-record 54th consecutive victory.

No. 8 Newport Harbor 12, Long Beach Wilson 4: Sammie Garcia had three goals and four steals to lead the host Sailors (1-1).

No. 9 Los Alamitos 9, Mira Costa of Manhattan Beach 6: Madison Ravelo and Calysa Toledo each scored three goals to pace the visiting Griffins (2-1).

Canyon 8, La Habra 7 (OT): Maddi Garcia made 15 saves and scored a goal, but the visiting Highlanders fell in sudden-death overtime. Emmalee Sproul scored the winner for Canyon on an assist by Evelyn Wang.

Dana Hills 23, JSerra 12: Sydney Baba scored eight goals and Alex Peros added six to lead the visiting Dolphins (1-1). Krista Krantz scored seven goals for the Lions.
