Mission Viejo’s boys water polo team knows the South Coast League will be challenging, but its move to the Division 2 league won’t define the Diablos’ season.

The squad made sure of that Saturday at the Grafton Weiss Memorial Tournament.

Mission Viejo defeated Kennedy in overtime, 13-12, and Costa Mesa, 10-8, at Tustin to capture the sixth annual tournament title.

Sophomore Taylor Enzi scored in sudden-death overtime to lift the Diablos (5-2) past Kennedy. Enzi and senior Luka Vasiljevic each finished with four goals for the Diablos while junior Joey Inducil added three.

Vasiljevic and Inducil each scored three goals against Costa Mesa for Mission Viejo, which moved to the South Coast from the Division 3 Sea View League.

“We’re young and we’re building,” Mission Viejo coach Jeff Rach said. “Moving up to the South Coast, it’s going to be tough.”

Sebastien Banales scored five goals for Kennedy against Mission Viejo.
