Penny's 4 TDs lead Norwalk in 45-0 rout
Norwalk, the top-ranked team in the CIF-Southern Section's Southeast Division, overwhelmed Whittier, 45-0, Friday night to pad its position as one of best teams in Southern California, regardless of division.
Rashaad Penny scored four touchdowns for Norwalk (4-0) in the victory.
Artesia beat Gahr, 29-27, behind Vincent Brown's two rushing touchdowns. Artesia scored the go-ahead touchdown when Isaiah Benoit returned an interception for a touchdown. Gahr scored late to draw within two, but the Gladiators' two-point conversion pass was intercepted.
St. Anthony improved to 3-0 with a 34-21 win against Mary Star.
In other area games, Compton dropped to 0-4 with another one-sided loss, this time, 40-6, to Morningside, while Mayfair won its first game of the season with a 42-13 rout of Cerritos Valley Christian. The Monsoons roared to a 35-6 halftime lead.
Gardena beat Glenn, 47-0, and Rosemead routed Warren, 77-21.
