The CIF-SS softball season got off to a strong start in Orange County on Saturday.

In the Savanna Showcase:
Savanna 5, Santa Margarita 1: Savanna, ranked second in CIF-SS Division 6, opened the season with a win over the Eagles. Starting pitcher Jezabelle Quintana pitched a complete-game three-hitter and hit a home run for the Rebels. Marisa Meza hit a two-run home run in the first inning to set the tone for the Rebels. Kristin Worley (Cal State Chico) was 3 for 3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Savanna 12, El Toro 1: Savanna scored five runs in the first inning and three in the second as they defeated the Chargers in their second game of the tournament. Sam Kennedy had a three-run home run and five RBI. Worley scored three runs and stole two bases, and Shyanne Fennell pitched a three-hitter.
Rosary 3, Sonora 0: Andi Hester tripled home Nicole Siess with two outs in the fifth and scored on Mady Christensen’s double to give Rosary a 2-0 lead. Amelia Wiercioch struck out six while pitching a shutout.
Rosary 12, Pomona Catholic 2: Rosary scored 11 runs in the first two innings and cruised to a victory in its second game of the Savanna Showcase. Nicole Siess and Andi Hester each doubled twice, and Molly Pellkofer had a double, a triple, and 4 RBI. Jen Gomez went 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI. Wiercioch pitched three shutout innings and struck out six to earn his second victory of the season.
Garden Grove 3, Fullerton 1: The Argonauts were led by Alyssa Fernandez and Meredith Miller, who were both 2 for 3 with an RBI. Olivia Candelas went the distance for the win.
Garden Grove 9, St. Joseph (Lakewood) 6: The Argonauts picked up their second win behind the pitching of Olivia Candelas. The Argos were led by Andrea Corrigan and Alyssa Fernandez who each drove in two runs, and Blake Hesla went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Katella 8, Westminster 3: Stephanie Rojas went 2 for 4 with a home run, two RBI, two runs and a stolen base for Katella in its first game of the Savanna Showcase.
In the Brea Olinda-Yorba Linda Tournament:
Orange Lutheran 6, St. Paul 0: Maddy Dwyer pitched a two-hit shut out to lead Orange Lutheran to a victory in a pool-play game. Mackenzie Boesel had an RBI single in the first.
In the Cypress Tournament:
Huntington Beach 14, Peninsula 0: Ivy Davis went 2 for 4 with three RBI and a home run as the Oilers won their opening game in the Cypress Tournament.
Huntington Beach 19, Granda Hills 5: The Oilers collected 19 hits, including home runs by Allee Bunker (3 for 3) and Kristina Inouye (2 for 4).
