CIF-SS SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

DIVISION 6

SAVANNA (31-1) VS. PARACLETE OF LANCASTER (26-3)

Where, when: Bill Barber Park, Irvine, Saturday, 10 a.m.

Ticket Info: general admission, $10; students w/school ID and children (5-13), $5; parking, free. The game will be streamed live by FoxSportsWest.com’s PrepZone.

Outlook: Entering the postseason as the division’s top two seeds, Savanna and Paraclete have more than lived up to the billing, overwhelming every squad that’s come before them the past two weeks. The Rebels have outscored their playoff opponents by a 63-5 margin, while the Spirits have blitzed their competition, 53-4. “They’re just like us,” Savanna coach Mike Willey said. “They hit with good power. They have good pitching, play good defense and run well. I’m expecting the kind of game everybody is expecting – a close one.” The Orange League champs have reeled off 19 wins in a row and have not been challenged for the better part of two months. If adversity presents itself in the championship environment, it’ll be interesting to see how a roster flooded with underclassmen will respond. Pitchers Jezabelle Quintana and Shyanne Fennell have been dominant in the circle, while Kristin Worley, Karlee Rivera and Marisa Meza have paced a lineup that’s producing a lot of hits. One of Paraclete’s three losses was 1-0 against West Ranch of Stevenson Ranch, a Division 1 finalist.
