The CIF-SS high school baseball season got off to a strong start in Orange County on Saturday.

SATURDAY’S GAMES
Aliso Niguel 7-5, Huntington Beach 3-8: Zak Nocon outdueled Hagen Danner to give the Wolverines the victory over the defending CIF-SS Division 1 champions in the first game of the doubleheader.
Blake Sabol’s three-run triple highlighted Aliso Niguel’s offense, which roughed up Danner for seven runs (five earned).
In the second game, pitcher Mitch Kovary earned a split for the Oilers (1-1) at Irvine Valley College. Ethan Butka took the loss for the Wolverines (1-1). Logan Pouelsen earned the save.
Pouelsen, Danner, and Dylan Palmer doubled for Huntington Beach.
Woodbridge 4, Palm Springs 0: Zak Baayoun pitched four shutout innings for the win. He also led the Warriors offensively, going 3 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI triple.
Chase Bradley, Jake Larson and Ryan Santa Cruz also recorded multi-hit games.
Laguna Hills 2, Savanna 1: With the two teams locked in a pitching duel, Gabriel Barthelmass homered in the bottom of the sixth to break the 1-1 tie.
From there, Laguna Hills’ Anthony Agrusa (1-0) finished his complete game. He allowed one run on four hits in the outing.
Servite 5, Villa Park 1: Alexander Greene’s solo home run capped a three-run second inning as the Friars (1-0) cruised past the Spartans (0-1).
Sean Paquet allowed two hits in a complete-game victory.
University 2, Ramona 1: Jacob Collins struck out 11 over five innings for the Trojans (2-0), who swept Ramona in a doubleheader.
Neil Boudreau had three hits, including a double and triple, and a pair of RBI.
Canyon 10, La Habra 2: Grant Askins went 3 for 4 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored as the Comanches (2-0) took both games of the doubleheader.
versus the Highlanders (0-2).
El Modena 7-4, Laguna Beach 0-0: Samuel Gutierrez and Nolan Kuchta had matching five-strikeout starts for the Vanguards (2-0) in a pair of shutout victories.
