O.C. TOP 10

(Records through Sunday)

1. Mater Dei, 12-1

Monarchs are now the No. 1 team in the nation according to MaxPreps.com.

2. Brea Olinda, 11-2

The Wildcats rebounded from two early losses in the West Coast Jamboree with wins over Cardinal Newman of Santa Rosa and St. Anthony.

3. Foothill, 9-2

Knights got their best win of the year, a 73-59 win over No. 6 Orange Lutheran, on Tuesday.

4. Troy, 8-5

It’s hard to tell where the Warriors should sit in the Top 10. They’ve played tough competition, but no O.C. teams.

5. El Dorado, 10-4

Went 3-2 in the West Coast Holiday Festival between Christmas and New Year’s.

6. Orange Lutheran, 11-3

A double-digit loss to No. 3 Foothill last week – that was uglier after three quarters than the final score indicates – drops the Lancers a bit.

7. Fairmont Prep, 9-2

Huskies had a four-game winning streak snapped by Horizon Christian of San Diego on Saturday.

8. JSerra, 10-3

The Lions had last week, but take on St. Bernard of Playa del Rey on Thursday and Mater Dei of Chula Vista Saturday.

9. Orangewood Academy, 11-2

They didn’t show their best in a 23-point loss to Windward on Saturday, but the Spartans still have good wins over several quality O.C. teams.

10. Huntington Beach, 12-3

The Oilers make their first appearance in the Top 10 after winning the Costa Mesa Winter Classic last week.

Also considered: Woodbridge (8-5), Tesoro (11-3), San Clemente (8-5), Edison (9-5), Santa Margarita (12-4)
