OCVarsity’s season preview for 2016:

SANTIAGO CAVALIERS

Coach: Brandon Croft

Last season: 1-9 overall, 1-4 league

Scouting report: The Cavaliers didn’t have the season they wanted last year, especially coming off of an 8-4 campaign in 2014. The Cavaliers have their sights set on regrouping and climbing up the league standings. Santiago returns seven starters on offense and six on defense. Santiago has a strong junior class, led by quarterback Angel Tajimaroa, that gained varsity experience last season. The Cavaliers have some young and talented starters returning at the skill positions. On defense, the Cavaliers have several seniors slated to start, including returning all-league nose tackle Raul Payan.

Bottom line: It is going to take some work, but the Cavaliers could be in the mix for the playoffs with their senior leadership and the continued development of their underclassmen.

Players to watch: Angel Tajimaroa, QB, Jr.; David Ramirez, RB, So.; Adrian Alarcon, OG, Jr.; Jesus Arcos, CB, Jr.; Adrian Montes, WR, Sr.
