MISSION HILLS – Santa Margarita’s William Green and Alemany’s Cayden Dunn gave the crowd at Friday night’s nonleague game plenty of highlights to remember with their runs across the field at Alemany High.

But Green finished with the upper hand, finishing with 240 yards rushing on 26 carries and two touchdowns to lead Santa Margarita to a 48-35 victory.

Dunn was just as spectacular, running for 221 yards on 16 carries with two first-half touchdowns.

Santa Margarita (2-1), ranked fourth in Orange County, scored 31 consecutive points after trailing, 28-17, in the first half.

Alemany, which was coming off a 28-27 loss to JSerra in overtime, held the lead at halftime, 28-27, Friday, but Santa Margarita owned the second half.

The Eagles’ Grant Calcaterra caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Richard Wagner for in the third quarter for the sixth lead change of the game.

Chad Magyar later scored on a 12-yard run to extend the Eagles’ lead to 41-28 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Green had a 57-yard touchdown run in the first half, and he found the end zone late in the fourth, scoring an an 8-yard run to make it 48-28.

Alemany clicked on all cylinders early.

Dunn had a 78-yard touchdown run on the second play from scrimmage, and he added a 16-yard scoring run later to give Alemany a 17-14 lead.

Wagner completed 15 of 23 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns.

Santa Margarita’s Dylan Brady kicked two field goals, including a 44-yarder late in the first half.
