All-CIF receiver Dylan Crawford transferred to Santa Margarita from St. Francis of La Cañada, Santa Margarita football coach Rick Curtis confirmed Friday.

Crawford had 44 receptions for 1,006 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior in 2014. Crawford, 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, has scholarship offers from many colleges, including UCLA, USC and Notre Dame.

Curtis also said via email that former San Francisco 49ers lineman Jesse Sapolu has joined the Santa Margarita staff to help coach the offensive line. Sapolu had been on the Edison coaching staff. …

Sage Hill hopes to announce its new football coach next week, school athletic director Megan Cid said. Tom Kirchmeyer coached Sage Hill on an interim basis for the 2014 season. The Lightning went 3-7 overall and 0-4 in the Academy League. …

Orange Lutheran’s 2015 football schedule includes nonleague games against the two teams that played in the CIF State Open Division championship game. The Lancers have a home game against Open Division champion Centennial of Corona on Sept. 11 and the following week at Open Division runner-up De La Salle of Concord.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Sage Hill girls volleyball setter Maddy Abbott is a finalist for the Andi Collins Award that prepvolleyball.com bestows upon its assessment of the best setter in the nation.

Abbott, daughter of former Angels pitcher Jim Abbott, was All-Orange County and All-CIF this past season. The award is named for the late Andi Collins, who played volleyball at Mater Dei.

OYS BASKETBALL

Orange Lutheran boys basketball coach Chris Nordstrom became the school’s all-time leader in coaching victories Wednesday when the Lancers defeated JSerra. In his 11th season at Lutheran, Nordstrom’s 209th win surpassed the 208 wins that Jerry Simmons compiled in 12 seasons.

All-County water polo player Sam Slobodien of Santa Margarita has committed to USC, Eagles coach Paden Mitchell confirmed.
