SANTA ANA – Santa Ana dealt bruises to the battered Orange defense while remaining unbeaten in league this season.

Jonathan Briseno and twin brother Jorge combined to rush for 255 yards and score four of the five Santa Ana touchdowns as the Saints defeated Orange, 33-17, in a Golden West League matchup Friday night at Santa Ana Stadium.

“We’ve trained and conditioned hard all summer, so we can just outlast people,” Santa Ana coach Charlie TeGantvoort said.

Orange (1-6, 0-2) managed to remain within 27-17 in the first half, despite rushing for just 43 yards and passing for 82 yards.

Quarterback Brandon Warren (7 of 9 passing for 65 yards) scored the Panthers’ final touchdown on a 1-yard draw with two minutes left in the half.

But Santa Ana (5-2, 2-0) and the two-headed running attack of the Briseno twins proved too much for Orange.

Jonathan Briseno, the quarterback, rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries. Jorge, a running back rushed for 119 yards and one 53-yard touchdown on eight attempts.
