San Juan Hills runs over Godinez in debut
LAS FLORES - In a duel of debuting varsity programs, San Juan Hills ran over Godinez, 35-12, at Tesoro High on Friday night.
San Juan Hills’ double-wing offense excelled in its initial appearance, repeatedly catching the Godinez (0-1) defense off balance.
The Stallions (1-0) racked up 235 yards on the ground from a committee of ball carriers. Sophomore Kenny Finley led the charge, accumulating 114 rushing yards on 17 carries.
"(The future) is bright; these guys are sophomores, they’re only going to get better," San Juan coach Greg Gibson said. "This win set a foundation for success that’s only going to breed throughout the program for this year, next year and the years to come."
At the helm of the San Juan Hills offense was sophomore quarterback Will Acromite, who was a threat on the ground, as well as through the air. He had a rushing touchdown and 45 yards on the ground.
