Mater Dei junior Katie Lou Samuelson has been named Gatorade’s player of the year in California for girls basketball.
The 6-foot-3 Samuelson is averaging 26 points and 10.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the Monarchs (26-2).
Samuelson, who was a member of the USA Basketball Women’s U-16 National Team, was also a finalist for the Naismith Girls High School Player of the Year award.
She was the Register’s Orange County Player of the Year in 2013.
